Wow, what a whirlwind.
It only took us 7 months to get our little guy into his own room. (Side note: HGTV lied to us, rehabbing a house takes way more time than you think it will).
I wanted his room to be picture perfect. Well, I’m here to tell you that is totally unrealistic. One, he is a baby who makes messes. Two, his room will never be “done”. I will always find something interesting at the thrift store to add or change. He might fall in love with spaceships or cowboys or Elmo and those things will take over.
I see all these gorgeous nurseries and toddler rooms, and they are AH-MA-ZING so I was a little hesitant to share my hot mess, crooked, unedited construction and room in progress pictures. But, I want to show you more than highly curated, unattainable rooms. I want to show you how I thrift, what the results really look like, and where I struggle/change my mind.
So, here it is in all of its’ hot mess glory: the work in progress baby room.
and the “finished” – not really finished product
This teepee was $19 on clearance at Walmart This is the base of a hutch. IKEA cubes!
You won’t see hot mess pictures on most home blogs, but this is our real home, our real life, and perfection is overrated anyway!
